The Setup
Reporting to the Head of HR and managing a team of 3, you will be custodian of HR operations across the core employee lifecycle – systems, admin and compliance, payroll, benefits and recruitment. Within the team you will find a recruitment specialist, a payroll specialist and a generalist coordinator – you will support their development, act as escalation and work closely with on key projects.
The Role
This HR function has been going through a bit of a facelift in recent times following a change in HR leadership and, while new faces, new structure and a new strategic direction is exciting, it doesn’t stand to mean much if the HR engine room isn’t running effectively. Don’t worry though, this isn’t a case of needing a full engine rebuild but rather swapping the 1.0 petrol engine out for something that is a bit punchier and more efficient to get this organisation to its destination quicker.
The crux of this role really is in the systems development (alongside the continuous delivery of services of course). With a new system in place, the HR team now has the key tool to rewrite ways of working, drive efficiencies and improve employee experience. You will be tasked with overseeing the improvement of systems-based processes, upskilling the team, identifying service risks and creating a holistic vision for how the HR Operations function should be operating, including the development of service standards, metrics and SLAs.
You will work closer with the wider HR team, including the HR Business partners and may support on projects and ad hoc ER or engagement initiatives, You will look at expanding data capture capabilities for key HR metrics and support development of efficiencies in reporting and cyclical activity such as pay review. And, you’ll have oversight to make sure everyone is getting paid.
Who are we looking for?
If this role sounds a bit of you, we’re looking for individuals with a track record of HR Operations management/ delivery but particularly with demonstrable experience of developing operations through a systems lens. We’re not looking for a systems specialist, just someone that has been through these sorts of operational changes in the past and has an understanding of how process improvements and efficiencies translate to employee experience. We’ll also need you to have had hands on, or indirect experience, of overseeing payroll & benefits and recruitment and onboarding, and the type of escalations that come in those areas. If you’ve got the above and have delivered similar work in organisations going through change or HR functions going through evolution, then we want to hear from you.
